Open the safety checklist

Cessão is the technical name for transferring a consortium share from one holder to another. Every legitimate carta contemplada purchase goes through this official process, run by the administrator. Skipping the cessão is the fastest route to a scam.

The cessão step by step

  1. Confirm the share: up-to-date statement, contemplation status and outstanding balance.
  2. Agreement between the parties: the entry/ágio amount and the installments the buyer takes over.
  3. Documentation: personal documents (or company ones, for a CNPJ) and the administrator's form.
  4. Administrator review: it assesses documents and the new holder's financial capacity.
  5. Approval and formalisation: the administrator registers the new holder and releases the credit.
The transfer is only valid once approved and registered by the administrator. An 'on the side' deal, without the official cessão, does not transfer the share — and you could lose your money.

Common documents

  • Individual: ID, CPF, proof of address and of income.
  • Company: CNPJ, articles of association, partners' documents and proof of revenue.

Each administrator has its own list and criteria. Liberty Carta handles the brokerage and documentation so the cessão is done correctly — remembering that the final approval always belongs to the administrator.
